Events of 2015:

Rainbows Cookafun Challenge Competition

On Monday 2nd February 18 Rainbows took part in the Cookafun challenge competition to make a Smoothie. Working in pairs, they created smoothies based on designs they had created and got to cut up fruit, measure out fruit juice or milk and add some ice cubes if they wanted before their creations were Whizzed up in the blender by one of three lovely parent helpers who came to help. One created and poured into the special glasses, they were presented to the three judges- Anna, Sally and Indy who got to judge them on the creativity, presentation, texture and taste. All the Rainbows got to try their own creations and had lots of fun creating them. The winning pair were able to go forward to the District competition to compete against other Rainbows.

  • Brownies Cookafun Challenge Competition

    On Monday 2nd February, 1st Colerne Brownies took part in their Cookafun Challenge to design a winning pizza design. The Brownies worked in pairs to make their pizza base, shape it and top it with their own special tomato sauce and the pizza toppings of their own choice. These ranged from Feta Cheese to tuna to fresh basil and a favourite topping- pineapple. Once cooked by our lovely parent helper of the night, Gilly, The pizzas were presented to the three guest judges- Anna, James and Nick, who scored the pizzas on the creativity, presentation, texture and taste before revealing the winning design. The Winners of the pizza competition were Ellie and Olivia, with a Rainbow shaped pizza with different coloured toppings creating a rainbow. Well done to all the Brownies who took part. Lots of fun was had by all.

  • Brownie Sleepover at Boomerang

    1st Colerne Brownies joined together with Corsham Brownies to attend a Brownie Sleepover at Boomerang Soft Play Centre in Melksham. Just over 50 Brownies enjoyed an evening of playing on the soft play equipment and having a lovely supper before tucking into their beds for a well needed rest. After breakfast, the girls were able to play again before heading home.

  • Guides holiday to PGL Liddington

    9 girls from 1st Colerne Guides (including 2 girls on link from Brownies), enjoyed a weekend away at PGL Liddington from 1st - 3rd May. There activities included Jacobs ladder, giant swing, archery, sensory trail, abseiling, vertical challenge, zip wire and Aeroball. Evening activities included have a go show, cinema and splash.

  • Cookafun Division Heats- 9th May

    Well done to our two Rainbows who came second in their Smoothie competition, it was a very close competition!
    Congratulations to the Guides who won their Ready, steady, Cook style competition with a delicious meal of home made meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta followed by a fruity layered cream and meringue pudding with chocolate and strawberry decoration. They now get to go forward to the Wiltshire North County cooking competition next week.

  • Guides Cookafun County Heats- WINNERS!!

    This time the girls headed to Swindon Academy for their Ready Steady Cook challenge on the 17th May, where they made a very tasty chicken dish, beautifully presented with mashed potato and a home made tomato sauce followed by a layered strawberries and cream (with a hint of chocolate!) pudding. We are all very excited for the girls as they won again! They now have got a place at the Regional Finals at Exeter's West Point Arena on July 11th. We wish them all the best in their competition.

  • Rainbows Frozen Sleepover

    14 members of 1st Colerne Rainbows, with the help of 5 adults enjoyed a Frozen themed sleepover on the 20th June. They enjoyed making their own ice pops, having newspaper snowball fights, making crowns, going for a walk to find Elsa in the woods, meeting 2 Elsa's who danced and sang with them. Enjoying a banquet then watching Frozen before going to bed.

  • Armed Forces Day Parade

    Huge thank you to all members of the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides who were able to take part in the Armed Forces Day parade, you all looked fantastic and it was lovely to have so many of you there to support the Armed Forces. Thank you to everyone who came over to our stand to see us.

  • Guides Cookafest challenge

    Well done to Meagan, Marykate, Sky and Caitlin for taking part in the Guide cooking regional Finals competition at Cookafest on July 11th in Exeter representing both 1st Colerne Guides and Wiltshire North Guiding County.They enjoyed a funfair attraction as well as sampling goods from Tesco farm to fork stand. The girls cooking competition was in the afternoon and they created a lovely chicken dish with a chocolate and fruit based pudding, although they did not win they really enjoyed their day!

  • Brownies and Guides Narrowboat day trip

    A team of 5 girls enjoyed a day on the Falcon Adam, a 70ft narrowboat owned by the Thames and Kennet narrowboat trust. The girls enjoyed boarding the canal boat where they enjoyed a pirate themed day trip along a section of the canal, getting to help with opperating locks, bridges and taking it in turns to steer the boat, all under the guidance from the boats skippers. They also enjoyed crafts and learning about canal boats and canals to gain a special Falcon Adam challenge badge.

  • Medieval Madness Camp

    4 Guides and 2 leaders enjoyed joining in with a camp with other Guides from Wiltshire North County from Sunday 26th July to Friday 31st July.They camped at Runways End in Hampshire and the activities included on site activities, going to an Alpine Snow Centre and a day out to Thorpe Park. The theme was Medieval Madness, with the girls getting to take part in activities to celebrate 800 years since the signing of the Magna Carta, including a medieval day involving dressing up, a medieval banquet and Morris dancing!

  • Brownie District Camp 2015

    Member of 1st Colerne Brownies took part in a Brownie camp with other Brownies in Corsham and Box District. This was the first camp that Colerne Brownies had done. Activities included making friends, cooking, crafts and playing games as well as sleeping in tents, enjoying a campfire, water fun and eating smores! Well done to the 20 Brownies who earnt their Brownie Camper badge.

  • Brownie Pack Holiday 2015

    24 Brownies took part in a Harry Potter themed Pack Holiday at Woodhouse Park. The girls enjoyed climbing, abseiling and Jacobs ladder on the onsite activities as well as evening entertainments of a wide game and Brownies got talent.

  • Remembrance day parade

    Thank you to all the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides who took part in this years Remembrance parade, especially those who laid posies and wreaths or carried or accompanied the flags
